  1. What is this thing?
    Unheard Magazine is an independently produced and FREE downloadable creative magazine. Our mission is to introduce fresh and new creative writing to a worldwide audience.
  2. How can I get into the magazine?
    Please submit all work via our online form.
  3. How often is Unheard Magazine published?
    Our 2010 production schedule features 5 issues:
    - Issue 5, Winter (end of February)
    - Issue 6, Spring (end of April)
    - Issue 7, Summer (end of July)
    - Issue 8, Fall (end of September)
    - Issue 9, Holidays (end of November)
  4. What kind of work do you accept?
    We accept original creative writing, such as:
    - Fiction
    - Non-fiction
    - Poetry
    We also accept artistic
    - Photos
    - Drawings
    - Paintings
    - Calligraphy
  5. Do you accept episodic or installment stories?
    Yes! However, we do ask that they end with a partial conclusion to encourage readers breathlessly awaiting your next installment.
  6. How long can my submission be?
    We prefer fiction to be under 3,000 words; poetry under 40 lines. We like to keep things within 60 pages.
  7. Is there anything you don’t accept?
    We do NOT accept
    - Work you do not own the copyright to
    - Horror
    - Op-ed essays
    - Fan-fiction
    - Pornography
    - Explicit graphic violence
    - Hate literature
    All submissions are subject to our admittedly biased editorial approval.
  8. So, can I have nudity, swearing, sex, and/or violence in my work?
    Yes. We only ask that you keep it to an “R” rated movie level.
  9. Will my work be edited?
    Except for practical purposes (spelling, grammar, design, etc.), we won’t edit or alter the content of your work without your permission. Please note, this includes any mistakes we might miss!
  10. How will you protect my work once I submit it?
    We take copyright very seriously and want to help you keep the rights to your own work. All submissions are protected under the Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 United States License. Meaning, you allow us to publish it but you keep your copyright.
  11. Does this cost anything?
    The PDF download edition 100% cheap as in free. Our high quality print editions are kept as low as possible but will vary in price by the number of pages.
  12. Can I make any money from this?
    We are working hard to develop revenue streams and not operate at a loss. (We currently lose money with every issue.) If you have a good idea that still allows us to respect the fine work entrusted to us, please let us know.
  13. Why are you doing this?
    Because getting published is freakin’ hard.
    Because creativity matters.
    Because bringing something beautiful into someone’s day is important.
    Because we want to introduce you to the world.
